In 2007, the PRIMEtimers'
Steering Committee and the group worked on several commitments:
1) to
create and implement an endowment program for the church under
the leadership of the Finance Ministry and Endowment Chair Chris Moore,
2) to
undertake local mission projects--beginning with cleanup and
refurbishing of the Youth Building and main church Youth Director
office spaces, followed by an emphasis in 2008 on studying how to
assist the City of Clarkston in revitalizing deteriorating
neighborhoods.
3) In
addition, PRIMEtimers invite guest speakers who have knowledge of
already existing regional mission projects in order to educate
themselves to liaison/assistance possibilities.
4) Last,
the group maintains a social fellowship which
includes dining
out and attending civic or regional art events together such as the
Civic Theater, the Festival of Trees, the Washington-Idaho Chorale.
They have a
general gathering at five o'clock the first Friday of every
month, called First Friday at Five.
They meet in homes for a meal, a
program, and fellowship. The size of the group varies from 14-24 and
all who are retired or thinking of retiring are invited to attend. The
PRIMEtimers group has a steering committee of Don Poe, Judy James,
Rachel Harder, social chair, Jeanne Keatts, program chair, and Dixie
Ehrenreich (758-3306) organizing chair.
